Goffs Oak Methodist Church

Worship

Goffs Oak Methodist Church is a friendly welcoming church. People come to worship with us from the surrounding area, including Cuffley, Goffs Oak, Cheshunt, and Hammond Street. The church is a community that seeks to be a part of local life. We also look beyond our immediate area and its concerns, offering support to projects and organisations in Britain and overseas that seek to bring the hope of Christ to others.

Sunday morning worship at 10.15 am is a mix of traditional and contemporary. Our 6.30 pm evening services are a time for quieter reflection and worship. In all our worship and life together, we seek to grow in our knowledge of Christ and the love of God, whilst offering our praise and adoration. Once a month in the morning we celebrate Holy Communion. All are welcome to take and share bread and wine who sincerely love Jesus, whether or not they are members of the Methodist Church, or another church.

Our youngsters come to Sunday Club at 10.15 am, where they learn through a variety of interesting activities. There are groups to which adults may belong. These meet for study and fellowship during the week. There is a monthly Bible Study, and other activities that support and encourage us to know God more fully. We have social activities and groups to which anyone may come and belong. Every Tuesday there is a coffee morning from 10.00 – 12.00: a good place to catch up with what is happening locally. Alternate Tuesdays is our Tuesday Circle, which is a time of fellowship with organized speakers and activities.

Baptism, confirmation (membership), weddings and funerals are a part of the life of the church and its people. Those interested in any of these should contact the minister.

Circuit Prayers: This Sunday we are asked to pray for all those    who attend  Edmonton , Goffs Oak, Grange Park, Highlands and Oakwood Methodist Churches in this order weekly in August and the first week in September.

See Newssheet for the churches where Circuit Prayers are being said for attendees that week.

Prayer List

On the table in the Church Vestibule there is a list where you can

write your prayer requests, which will then be prayed for the Sunday

Services.

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes,

on a Sunday morning or evening?

Here is your chance to find out.

Would anyone who is interested in becoming a steward, or just helping out in the vestry, please contact one of the stewards.

A little of your time can make a very BIG difference.

Church Council Secretary

We need a new Church Council Secretary. If anyone is able to help take minutes at these meetings 3 or 4 times a year, please see our minister or one of the stewards.Shadow -a- Steward

The Church DESPERATELY needs new stewards to ensure the smooth running of the vestry, to help maintain the standard of worship, and prepare for Sunday Services.

We invite you to work alongside a steward, on a Sunday morning of your choice. this is your chance to see at first hand, WITH NO OBLIGATION, the work of the stewards, and to see if it's for you. Remember, the larger the team the smaller the task! The vestry really is a happy place  - please pray about this and talk to Steve or Isabel.

Sunday Club - help needed

The Sunday Club desperately need someone to lead a group of children aged between 3-5 years. A rota system could  be considered.  The wide range of ages are making things very difficult for the current leaders and it is hoped to divide the younger group into two.

If you can help in any way please contact Jacqui or Barbara.

Transport for Church Members

We now have more Church members needing a lift to morning services than we can accommodate in one car. Could any drivers amongst us, please speak to Bob to see how you can help.

Tuesday Coffee mornings

Would you be able to help at the Open Church coffee mornings, on a Tuesday once every six weeks. If so, please contact Doreen.

Sunday morning Coffee Rota

A new Sunday Morning Coffee Rota is about to be prepared for the next half year from July onwards, and we really need some extra helpers!

Please consider if there is a way you can contribute to our Church family life. The more helpers we have, the less often the task comes round! If you could possibly help out on this rota, please see Barbara.
