Goffs Oak Methodist Church

Notice Board

This is the Notice Board for Goffs Oak Methodist Church

This Church supports a range of activities and to advertise the functions the Notice Board is available for Church and organisations that use the church hall. The whole community is welcome to Goffs Oak Methodist Church and all activities that widen the use of the church. The Goffs Oak Methodist Church makes the premises available to all people .

The Notice Board can be added to and all that is needed is the information to be passed onto the Web Editor. This page will cover many activities that are available to the church and public.

Please notify the Web Editor and pass on  your details, times and location of the Notice that needs to be posted.  The Goffs Oak Methodist Congregation are all very welcome to use this page.

Lettings Steward

Is anyone available and or interested in taking over from Frances as Lettings Steward. She is having to stand down by the end of summer due to too many other commitments. It's a wonderful way to meet the local community, but you do not need to be local, or within easy reach of the Church. Frances would work with the new steward to make the handover easier. Please see her for details.

Mother Teresa Support Group

Just to prove that the Mother Teresa Support Group is still alive and kicking (or should that be Knitting),

this is to let everyone know that they have sent off 14 blankets and 40 jumpers.

a really fine achievement.

To keep them knitting, if anyone has some spare wool, preferably double wool,

Dot and Jo would be most grateful to receive it.

Holiday Club

At the recent meeting to discuss this year's Holiday Club arrangements, the date was fixed for the week of 26th to 30th July. Anyone interested in helping, in any way, please see Jacqui or Barbara.

***

A/ Holiday Club staff are looking for anyone willing to be interviewed for a couple of minutes , on one of the five days of the Holiday Club, about following Jesus , focusing on the theme for each day. It gives an opportunity for the children to discover how the Bible's teaching relates to everyday life for those who follow Jesus.

B/ It would be appreciated if you would please start saving any large cardboard boxes (flattened please) for use at this year's Holiday Club. Thank you.

Purple Sacks

We are running low on our supply of purple sacks. Donations of any spares you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Steward Vacancies

There are four willing stewards in our ves-ter-y.

Then one come off, which has left us only three.

So, if you feel you would like to be; speak with Isabel, Hia or Stella.

There is no limit, as you will see, the more there are, the easier it will be.

So, again, please do consider coming forward to join us!

Women's World Day of Prayer Service

This was held at St. Andrew's Church in Cuffley at 10.30 am.

This service this year has been prepared by the Christian women  of the Republic of Cameroon in Africa, and is entitled " Let Everything that has breath, Praise God".

This has always an enjoyable and moving service, and is one which gathers our six local churches of Goffs Oak, Cuffley and Northaw together ecumenically, and the readings are shared between members of these churches.

It is an amazing thought that when we wake up on 5th March this same service will have been celebrated in country after country as we slept. When our own service ends, the same words will be said and sung in another town or country , and when we switch off our lights that night, somewhere in the world the service is still being celebrated!

Come and be part of it.

Everyone is most welcome (not just women!)

ACTION FOR CHILDREN

During the last eighteen months NCH

(now Action For Children) has looked very seriously at revisiting its mission and core values.

The agreed platform for our future work and messages to supporters is;

 ' ALWAYS THERE FOR CHILDREN'

The Methodists have a special relationship with the NCH when it was founded in 1869 by a group of Methodists. It has grown and developed in many ways for caring for children and young people. Today Methodist make up 50% of the Trustees. The values held by the people working for the NCH are values which come from Methodism. They go in the heart of what we do and continue to do to provide the foundation and reason for being for work of the NCH. The Methodist are giving a Vision of a world where children and young people have a sense of belonging, and are loved and valued. A world where they can fulfil their potential, shape their destiny and experience for the joy of life.

And now it's called Action for Children
